The Taste of Edmonds used to reliably have the Atomic Punks play every year. They put on a pretty good show, even saw them play at Tulalip and a local club in Lynnwood.
Pretty sure I'm the biggest Van Halen fan on this board. They are my 1A band, with Muse as my 1B.

Thanks Taft!

Not so fast my fren! Buy Diver Down for $1 at a Wallingford garage sale at 2AM, drunk AF walking back from the All American Sports Bar and Grill in the late 90s and then pop off!
I first saw the Atomic Punks in the early 2000s in West Seattle. Love those guys.

I would have bought that for $1 because it's still VH history that only cost you $1. Diver Down is not a good album, though. Fucking Dancing In the Streets. Gross.
-
Are you high, pal? Hang 'em High? Little Guitars?
Some of EVH's best work right there!
-
Half covers, some instrumentals (yawn). Even granting those two songs, that's like 15% of the album. Not my cup of tea from a band that had way more up its sleeves than cover songs.
-
You mean like Eruption/You Really Got Me Now?
-
Easy there, Chief. First of all, Eruption is the pinnacle of the electric guitar and all EVH.
You Really Got Me Now is one of their best covers. I don't care for the tracks they picked on Diver Down. Did I mention how awful Dancing In The Streets is?
-
I love the party vibes of their take on Martha and the Vandellas.
Also Eddie's discovery of synthesizers is one of the great moments in rock history.
-
Let's just agree that Van Halen is the best rock band in history and leave it at that, mmkay?

‘78-‘84 Van Halen is the American version of Led Zeppelin.
To me they are the greatest American band of all time. I would argue I am the biggest VH fan on this board.I saw the Atomic Punks at Triplehorn brewery in Woodinville a few years back. They were good, but not as good as the original Atomic Punks that are now Steel Panther. Steel Panther now is 3/4 of the original Atomic Punks from that time.
I will never hate Diver Down. It was a fun Summer time record for me.
I won’t talk crap about Gary Cherone. When you are offered the opportunity he had, you take it. While VH 3 was their worst record, the concert at the Gorge was great. Don’t blame the guy one bit.
I have plenty more takes and opinions as well on the Mighty Van Halen.
