You know what gets me about Zionism?

I like to move into a neighborhood full of fucking asshole Arabs and then get angry when they act like a bunch of assholes.

A hundred years ago, the Israelis would have killed them all, but that isn't kosher anymore, especially not for a people that was on the recieving end of genocide.

I like to refer to returning to your homeland as "moving into a neighborhood", as if they just happened to pick that spot randomly with no reasoning behind it.

Hey smart guy. Maybe you didn't know this, but Jewish people have been living there since before the creation of the Israeli state. I personally wouldn't care if Israel killed them all. They are enemies of the US and Israel. They supported Sept. 11th, they supported the Hamas bombings of Israeli buses, they are murderers and they support murderers. If they had a nuclear bomb they wouldn't hesitate to drop it on Israel, even if it meant adversely affecting their own neighborhood.

These arab wastrels should be relocated to the surrounding arab countries to get them permanently out of Israel's hair. If these arab countries cared so much about the 'oppressed Palestinians,' one would think they'd welcome them into their kingdoms with open arms. But they don't. They're the worst kind of hypocrites. If I were Israel I would seize the Sinai peninsula, as well as strategic areas of land in Syria and Lebanon while they're distracted fighting a civil war, in order to create a wider buffer zone between Israel and its enemies.

I've spent a fair amount of time getting shot at, rocketed by, and talking to Arabs. I'm not a fan.

@OBK - your dumbassery continues to manifest itself. Zionism is a 19th century movement. Jews started moving back to Palestine around the turn of the 20th century. Hence my use of the term "Zionism," as coined by Theodore Herzl and friends. Israel was founded in 1948.

The thing is, they can't kill all the Arabs, and I don't see any way of dealing with them (I hate dealing with them, myself, so to a certain extent I feel their pain). But this is like 5 million Euro-Americans moving to China and complaining about all the zipperheads.

Also, too, Israel did what you recommend in 1967, and it was a disaster for them in 1973 and after.

Oslo was the last best chance for real peace, and it was an Israeli right-winger who killed off that chance when he shot Yitzhak Rabin.

@RaccoonHarry: I've studied it and lived it... so... huh?

@dnc: The problem with what you say is that pre-Zionism, Palestine was not a Jewish state for about 1500 years or more. At some poont there is a statute of limitations.

That being said, the Israelis are there and they don't seem to be going anywhere either. Both sides need to figure out how to live together, and I don't see that happening - both because of Arab assholishness and the Israelis reciprocating since the collapse of the Oslo accords.

    True.

OTOH it's never been a Palestinian state ever, so there's that.

More importantly, where exactly do you suggest the Jewish state should be? Does historic Jewish suppression justify them not having a state now? And if you support the idea of a Jewish state, where exactly do you suggest that should be located?

P.S. It probably doesn't get said enough, but thank you for getting shot at by Arabs so I don't have to. Kudos to you sir.

Palestine was a province of the (Muslim) Ottoman Empire for a really long time. Prior to that, it was part of some of the Arab Umayyad and Abbasid Empires.

I'm not so unreasonable as to propose that we undo Israel. It's real, it's a thing, and it's in a really bad neighborhood.

The neighborhood is the problem. The other problem is that when people invade and get invaded, once upon a time you resolved these kinds of problems by massacring your enemies, sowing the earth with salt, taking their women. These tactics are not encouraged anymore.

Since Rabin was murdered, any hope for peace is gone.

Like I said, I've done a lot of business with Arabs, and they are not fun to work with. I don't envy the Israelis that, but it's 2014 and they can't kill them all, and the contradiction of making a bigger better apartheid will tear the Jewish state apart eventually. There are no good solutions. It probably gets worse when the Arab population in Israel and the occupied territories exceeds that of the Jewish population. This is a demographic reality which will happen in about 20 years.

They've already got Westchester County. Ain't that adequate?

Jews have had a continued presence in Israel for more than 3000 years. They didn't just start "moving back" in the 20th century, although there was a surge due to the conditions in Europe.

    http://arabisraeliconflict.info/arab-israel-facts/fact-1-jewish-history-israel

And the only disaster from 1967 was Israel caving into the demands of hostile arab nations that never had any intent on living in peace with them (and still don't), and world opinion. They gave a good portion of the land they won back. They shouldn't have. It was seized from invaders seeking its destruction. They had every right to retain those territories. Ignorant liberals and palestinian supporters keep spewing that same shit - give them land and there will be peace. Give them their own state and everything will be fine. Bullshit. They will never live in peace with them. And since that is the reality, it makes a strong case for their destruction.

In 1800 there were 7000 Jews in Palestine, versus 22000 Christians and 246000 Muslims.

At the birth of the Zionist movement around 1890, there were 43000 Jews, 57000 Christians, and 432000 Muslims.

At the end of the British mandate in Palestine, there were 630000 Jews, 143000 Christians, and 1.1 million Muslims.

Clearly the post-WW2 migration has shifted the demographic balance there, and it is what it is, but let's not pretend that Jews had anything more than a historic claim of the land that was called Palestine in 1890. Even now, after 65 years of ethnic cleansing and war, the demographic balance is tenuous.

Honest querey, wtf does "Christian" mean in this context, ethnically? Are these Christians some mix of Jewish and Arab descent, or are these leftover European crusaders? Are we saying it's not possible to be a Jewish or Arab Christian?

I'm not questioning the numbers, just curious who these Christians are ethnically, and what side they fall on in the whole Jews vs Muslims thing.

Most Christians in those stats are Arab Christians, who identify as "Palestinians" typically. Maronite Christians and Druze identify as Israeli.
