DFI IS DEAD, LONG LIVE COLLEGE FOOTBALL REPORT
SAME GREAT REPORTING, SAME LOW PRICE
12 YEARS A SLAVE TO OREGON MEANS THE FIGHT IS OVER
HUSKIES UPSET RICH ROD’S WILDCATS
WEEKEND WRAP UP
Duckfighter Illustrated died a quiet and unlamented death when Chris Petersen elected to punt on 4th and 1 from the Oregon 39 yard line during the first possession of the game for the Huskies who already trailed 7-0. This gutless surrender was the final straw for the few remaining duck fighters still alive who can remember the last win over no longer a good team Oregon.
I’m not going to let that punt go. I’ll beat it until the ghost of that dead horse is dead too. And then beat it again. I’ll Michael Jackson beat it as often as that song got airplay in the 80’s. There is no surrender at Bushwood, sir and I never punt!
In current news the Huskies welcomed the best coach in the Pac 12 to a sparsely attended late night rumble at Air America Field at Sark Stadium. Rich Rod had his Cats ready to go. Go home that is! I have to look at the tape to be sure but the word is that UW actually won 49-3.
I was wrapped up in the Notre Dame-Temple game as well as the WSU Stanford clash of the titans for North Division supremacy.
WSU kicked 5 or 6 field goals which kept Stanford in the game and then missed the chip shot that would have won the game. Cougs are going to Coug. Water is going to be wet. Stanford did enough to win on a dreary Pullman night.
Alabama and LSU took the week off to prepare for this week’s epic battle of the Century. It’s not hard to spot schools that are serious about football and schedule accordingly.
Clemson beat N C State and Michigan mounted a thrilling if not all too predictable come back to beat Minnesota. In fact I did predict it on Twitter when the Gophers had the lead and Michigan had a back up QB in. How will Minnesota lose the game? How did I know? Because losers lose. That’s what they do. That’s why they are losers.
Remember how bad the Michigan offense looked against Utah and how bad the QB was? Not the case anymore. Jimbo has them coached up and ready to wreak havoc on the CFP.
Alabama welcomes LSU to town on the CBS Primetime SEC Game of the Century 2015 edition. Might as well not even play the rest of the games. Bama will slow down Fournette just enough and the LSU QB won’t make enough plays as the two teams engage in an old fashioned SEC defensive slug fest with plenty of SEC SPEED on display.
The Wild Hogs of Arkansas, the pre season 2016 favorite to win the Pac 12 North, will crush the dreams of Ole Miss with a big upset in Rebelville.
Georgia fans have launched a coaching search. Florida can wrap the SEC East sparing us another embarrassing appearance by Missouri in the conference title game.
In other less interesting news, the Huskies welcome South Division leading and top 15 ranked Utah to Crashcade Airlines Field at Emmert Arena. This is a big test for Petersen. Washington falls to pieces in these games. Time to build on a big win and send the WAC champ Utes back to wherever Utah is. Fuck those guys. Ruin their season.
Cal hopes to snap a multiple game losing string and beat Oregon. ASU is in Pullman to mail in a desultory performance and lose big to the cocky Cougars who can relax now that they are out of contention. Arizona goes to LA to get curb stomped by USC. Don’t bother applying Rich Rod. Should have left after last year.
Doog legend Frank Beamer is retiring from Virgina Tech. Doog legend Kirk Ferentz has Iowa unbeaten.
Everyone can freak out for no reason as the first playoff rankings come out.
Thanks for reading. Or not.
