2017 LOOKING SPECIAL
PAC 12 YEAR IN REVIEW
Don't look now but the PAC 12 bowl season is almost over after two of the loaded South teams matched up against WAC powers a week before Christmas and hung on for one touchdown wins. Yes it is that special time of year when the PAC 12 shows off against mid major teams nowhere close to New Year's Day in backwater outposts better known for New Age mysticism and sin and debauchery.
Three more PAC 12 teams get their bowl game out of the way this Saturday with Washington and Washington State going head to head on TV in games that no one was going to watch anyway. The Miami formerly Vaunted Canes will lose to Mike Lech and his innovative We Can't Win The Big Game offense. Southern Miss will beat Washington because this is a throw away bowl in a throw away year in a throw away decade. Keep an eye on 2017. NOGAF about UCLA or Nebraska anymore.
PAC 12 champ Stanford will play in the Rose Bowl against Hayden Fry and Iowa in what could be the worst Rose Bowl game in the history of the Granddaddy. Oregon, who lost the Pac 12 again this year, plays TCU on January 2. These are the two marquee matchups that the PAC 12 has. Look for recruits to continue to avoid the PAC 12 like the plague.
The PAC 12 regular season was pretty boring once Sark was taken to a rubber room. Stanford managed to win the league again while being too bad to get a playoff berth. Oregon lost three games but think they have it turned around thanks to a weak schedule to close out the year. They lost to WSU for goodness sakes.
WSU was the surprise team in the PAC this year coming within a missed field goal against Stanford of blowing the North division in a 45-10 loss to UW in the APPLE CUP.
Next year look for more horrible non conference games, a horrible TV network, and a three loss conference champion that is picked for the New Mexico Bowl to be played in August.
MEANWHILE IN REAL FOOTBALL
Clemson, Michigan State, Oklahoma, and Alabama were the choices for the second annual College Football Playoff brought to you by ESPN with 24 hours coverage by ESPN on ESPN. The games will be shown on ESPN on New Year's Eve. Check ESPN for listings.
Clemson became the 3rd straight ACC team to complete the regular season unbeaten. FSU did it the last two years. Clemson has a natural athlete at QB and a hard working coach in the mold of Danny Ford who led the Orange Tigers to a Natty in 1981 before he led them to probation where they were never heard from again until now. Frank Howard still has his rock stroked before every game. Clemson are the Tigers like 3 out of 4 SEC schools and play at Deaf Valley, a takeoff on the LSU stadium. Pretty original guys, now fuck off and retreat back to Bolivian.
Michigan State saved the country from Iowa ruining the playoffs but Michigan State is actually ruining the playoffs because we all want to see Ohio State. The Spartans are boring and solid Midwestern types who should just go somewhere and rust. A lucky win against Michigan along with two long drives to beat Ohio State and Iowa and here they are. Oh and they beat Oregon. Who didn't? Washington for one.
Oklahoma restored the pride of the Big 10 er 12 Conference by beating the shit out of the three little losers that no one wants in the playoffs. That would be TCU, Baylor, and Oklahoma State. Bob Stoops left no doubt that the Sooners belong in the playoffs because they are Oklahoma. Not Baylor or TCU. Oklahoma has lost their last two playoff games.
Alabama used their regular season bye to coast into the playoffs behind Heisman winner Derrick Henry and a fearsome defense that you can watch play on Sunday next year. Bama is still stinging from their loss to Ohio State last year and has a chip on their shoulder and something to prove. Folks love the SEC and the SEC plays the best ball this side of the NFL. We will all be watching prime time New Year's Eve as Bama takes the field. We all bleed Crimson.
OKLAHOMA 45, CLEMSON 28
ALABAMA 56, MICHIGAN STATE 3
As we celebrate this most holy and special time of year withour families , let us take long walks to gain perspective and remember how lucky we are to suck every year in football so that we can spend this most holy and special time of year with our families uninterrupted by concerns over football games that matter in involving our (?) DAWGS.
Thank you Coach Petersen for actually doing worse than Sark, thus bringing a bit of joy into a broken man's life as he assembles the broken pieces of the meds he wants to snort.
