College football is a business. And either you treat it like a business and have a chance to compete with the big boys or you don't and you don't. Name any "blue blood" program and it's the same for every single one them. If you suck and you can't play you get your scholarship pulled and you are replaced with a more talented freshman. That is just the reality of college football.
UW lost this game because of poor recruiting at O-line and WR and Petersen's unwillingness to grow a pair and CUT THE FAT from the roster. It's year 4 now. We should have a bad ass O-line and a stockpile of stud wide receivers waiting for their chance when injuries occur. But no, we have Andrew Kirkland, an undersized Center playing Guard in Harris, a bunch of Jags at WR behind Pettis, and a quarterback who has never had to compete for the starting job and shits himself every time this team is in a competitive game
Will UW get to that elite level of a team like Clemson doing it Petersen's way? Yeah probably, but we are going to have to wait until year 7 or 8 when the next starting QB is a second or third year starter. We would get there a lot sooner if Petersen would just say "fuck it!" and start forcing some healthy attrition. Hopefully we start seeing some with this 2018 class. I can't stand to watch this team fall short of expectations while there are a bunch of scrubs who will never play standing on the sideline holding their dicks and sitting on scholarships that should have already been given to more talented players.
