A couple quick memories of Oklahoma State

The 2015 Cactus Bowl, to be played in Tempe on January 2, will mark the first time Washington and Oklahoma State have met since 1985.

That '85 game kicked off the season where the Huskies were ranked #1 in the nation by Sports Illustrated. But the Cowboys, led by the 235 rushing yards from Thurman Thomas, beat Washington 31-17 in the nationally televised game.

The Huskies trailed 24-17 in the fourth quarter, when a Hugh Millen pass was picked off by Herman Moore and returned 48 yards for a touchdown down the sideline.

I remember the 1980 meeting pretty well, despite being 9 years old at the time. The Huskies traveled to Stillwater and beat the Cowboys 24-18. Jimmy Johnson was OSU's coach, before his glory days with the Miami Hurricanes and Dallas Cowboys.

That game wasn't on TV, so dad and I went to Husky Stadium and sat in the north side grandstands, in the days before the second upper deck had been built. Back then the UW had a JV team, and we sat in the sunshine and watched the young pups play Walla Walla or Spokane or some such team. Meanwhile, we listened to Bob Rondeau on a transistor radio, as the Huskies got a road win.
