David Goldman, aka Spengler, is an ardent Trump backer but argues, the way to beat China is to treat this as a "Sputnik" moment and get back to the business of keeping our technological lead over the PRC. PJ Media, and ultra conservative site, is my source.

From the reading I've done of late, seem like a lot of the stealing is somewhat legal and not a ton we can do about. People forget that we became the large economy in the world by the 1870s by stealing a lot of ideas from the Brits too. Not saying, it's all peaches and cream with trade with China and we need to be TUFF where it makes sense, but the way we are going to keep our place in the world is to do better on the home front with R&D. That's what the Ruskies and Chinese respect ultimately: the fact that our stick will always be bigger and way better.

We’ve already goaded China into relaxing standards for the amount of reserves that their financial institutions must carry to do business.

You can call that the end to their great run as once their greedy bastards get in there, we’ll see their first Great Recession. Of course this will hurt us too. So not necessarily a good thing.
