    Too much war imagery.

Recruiting is war, Dennis. Fuck or die.

So wait, you made a pole about war movies and didn't include The Deer Hunter?

Outside of the excellent Omaha Beach landing scene, Saving Private Ryan is one of the more overrated movies you'll ever find. Yuck.

The Omaha Beach scene and the final battle scene were good. Everything in between is boring.

    We Were Soldiers is decent.

12 Strong sucked as movie. Lone Survivor was also just ok. Act of Valor while the acting isn't great the movie itself and the firefights are intense.

Fury is pretty awesome especially the tank battle scene.

The Pacific is not as good as Band of Brothers but worth watching.

I've always enjoyed Kelly's Heroes and To Hell and Back is good even if it's super cheesy.

And while not technically a war movie, Extreme Prejudice has an awesome fire fight at the end. https://imdb.com/title/tt0092997/?ref_=nv_sr_1
basically that defines war, right, the battle is the easy part (so they say)... it's all the logistics and other crap that take virtually all the time and energy.

Good movie, but too long and slow to be the best.

I wouldn't expect an Asian to have The Deer Hunter on their list of faves.

I tired to watch the Deer Hunter again and couldn't. I just forwarded to the Russian Roulette scene and called it good

My grandmother was Christopher Lee's German dialogue coach on 1941.

Really, the Director's Cut of Apocalypse Now is pretty much as good as it gets.

People forget that Platoon and Full Metal Jacket came out at about the same time and were compared to each other. Platoon lays it on thick but it made me absolutely hate Tom Berenger for years.

Saving Private Ryan shows that you can have both the best and the worst of Steven Spielberg in the same film.

Some notable omission and/or fuck ups:

Enemy at the Gates - Not the greatest script, but there just aren't enough good options about the Eastern Front where most of war happened.

Master and Commander - There are some corny parts, but there's no other film out there that rivals the sea battles between sailing ships.

Lawrence of Arabia - prolly should have made the cut here, but Peter O' Toole creeps me out much of the time.

Kelly's Heroes - Even though it's an action/comedy, this might be my favorite WWII of all tim.

Inglorious Bastards - I hate Tarantino sometimes, but Waltz plays the best Nazi officer ever on film.

Braveheart - Should have clarified this was about war movies from the 1754 to the present.

Spartacus - Slave revolts aren't really about war.

Hunt for Red October - Cold war thrillers are not war movies.

MASH - Race is right on this one. Terrific film.

Enemy at the Gates had a nice scene where Rachael Weisz gave Jude Law a handie through his wool commie soldier pants.

The Longest Day was a good war flick, too. John Wayne, Henry Fonda, lots of cameos by Brat Pack era stars.

I can't believe one of the greatest modern war movies didn't make the cut.
