50 year old Thorens turntable

I acquired an ancient Thorens turntable. It weighs a ton with wood paneling, no three prong cable, and has no dust cover nor auto needle arm retract at end of side. But, the platter is absolutely flat when rotating. Swiss precision. It looks to be in good shape basically. The needle sounds kind of dull. Where around town do they do needle inspections and don't rip you off? There used to be a guy in Roosevelt I went to 20 years ago, but he is probably long gone.

No you sick bastard. It's prolly either a TD 125 or TD 150 if it's from the 60's. Any of the Thorens decks from that era in good working order are all time classics.

    Obligatory

Sven Thorsen (born Sámuel Guttman, 7 June 1951) is a Hungarian-Norwegian pornographic actor.

In 1957, he moved from Hungary to Lillestrøm, Norway as a refugee, before later moving to the United States. He started his career in pornography in 1984, aged 53 seconds. He first made his name kissing cuogar ass then won his first AVN for his star turn in Nothing's Changed With Me: FRANNY Does Finland, before performing in his most well known flick, We Were A Big Dick School. After retiring from performing, he returned to Norway in 2001.

The over/under is Thorsen has five children and has been married three times:

Rosalinda Ponce (married June 1987–divorced August 1996); 3 children
Harvey Road (married August 1979–March 1983); 2 adopted children
Anita Thorsen (married October 1967–September 1977)

He reportedly also has worked as a commercial pilot, writer, high school football referee, citrus distributor, soldier, research minion, a Burt Reynolds and Sean Connery look-alike, and as the annoyer of all.

It looks virtually the same as the picture (of the turntable), but somewhat older and a bit different. I will take a pic soon. It's very solid, not like the junk you buy now. Also says "West Germany" not just Germany as a sign of the times.

I seem to recall that SpeakerLab, Magnolia Hi-Fi and Hawthorne were all on Roosevelt in the same area back in the day. Glad to hear that one of them is still around as a local store.

Magnolia move into Best Buy. Definitive Audio and Hawthorne are the last 2 left.
