Morrison recalled a time as a kid in the car with his parents, they came upon a car accident where a car load of Indians lay dead or dying. One of the dying Indian’s soul, Morrison claimed, leapt into his. Morrison credits the Indian’s influence as the inspiration for much of his music.

Peyote. Copious amounts of Drugs, including the white. Shamanism. Prolific with the ladies.

They are both embarrassing on some level, but any band with Keith Richards is fundamentally one of the best bands around.

The Stones have had a lot of peaks and some valleys - e.g., mid 70's and everything after 1981 - but their peaks were as good as anyone in the bidness. They were objectively THE GREATEST ROCK AND ROLL BAND IN THE WORLD.

I feel you. They are a decent comic relief band. Lot of great songs, but interspersed with songs that you can listen to, but are silly.

When I was making Styx, I tried to concentrate on making music that was simultaneously well-crafted and hysterically silly. We achieved our mission.
