Leech is the best .500 coach in WSU's history

38 - 38 after six years. Although, the past three years >>>>>>>>>>his first three years.

So is it possible that the pirate is a sub .500 coach (in the future) without Grinch as his DC?

Grinch is an internet myth. His D just gave up 42 points. His D gave up 45 in the Apple Cup and fucking Arizona dropped 58 on Cuog.

It's not hard to have the linemen stem and blitz every down. That's EASports NCAA2K shit.

Nobody, in this thread, claimed that Grinch was anything special. Just an upgrade over the previous WSU DCs (under Leach).

WSU, under Leach, allowed 35 pts/game from 2012 to 2014. With Grinch they allowed under 27 pts/game.

WSU allowed 335 points in 2017. They haven't allowed fewer, in a season, since 2006. (insert Wilcox is better than Holt here.) So, indeed, context matters.

The question asked was will WSU revert to the mean (which is sub .500)?

Thanks for the tangential response. I'll mark it down as a no. And, btw, I agree.

Here's to hoping WSU doesn't stumble upon the next Kawasaki/Quietkowski.

There was a poster on Cougfarm that wanted tOSU to reconsider the Grinch hire (after yesterday's blowout).

    CUOG knows no limits.

Cuogs at each other’s throats today. Almost looks like a civil war is going to ensue. Rational cougs point out that Leach shits his pants at 4 million a year. Others are pulling the “do you want to go back to the Doba/Wulff Years?!?!?!” like doogs did with Sark about Ty and Gilby.

The ones who think Leach can do no wrong are getting really sarcastically chippy too.

Those are the same fuckwads that thinks Bull Moose shit magic cash unicorns and without his magic nothing would have been built in Pullman

    $20million annual deficits not withstanding.

Any decent coach could go .500 in Pullman. 90 year old Bill Doba did it. Paul Wulff picked his nose and shit his pants. He was not a decent football coach.

Not gonna make the CFP but that’s irrational expectations to begin with.

Not counting QB scrambles, WSU had 50 passes and 3 runs last night. Smith would literally have been lit on fire if he did something like that.

In all seriousness, Cuog probably can't do much better than Pirate. They aren't a tier 1 or tier 2 program. More like tier 5. Pirate can win 8-10 games a year sometimes and get them into the top 20 at some point during the season every couple years. Then lose a mid tier bowl. That's as good as it's going to get for sodbusters. Gotta know your limits as losers.

I kind of agree and I don’t. Pirate will be making 4 millions a year next year. He will NEVER win a meaningful game at WSU. Probably one of the worst motivators in college football. It will be a bunch of empty 7-9 win seasons with plungers in the Apple Cup and Bowl Games. I feel like for that kind of penny WSU could find someone that brings a bit more consistency and toughness.

    Probably not though. But still.
All fair poonts, but you need to add the “who the fuck would voluntarily move to Pullman” factor.

It takes $4 million per to KEEP that clown show there.

That’s kinda the going rate in Power 5 Football. But I’m all ears on who you believe could bring good Lineman to Pullman consistently.

Part of his issue is The Hammer who signed up to coach across the state from Pullman. If we still had Sark Leach would be pulling the occasional Apple Cup win combined with close losses. All of Pullman would be licking Leach's sack as long as he was there.

Beau Baldwin would equal Leach’s success, initially, at half the price, win Bowl games and likely stay if he’s eventually compensated proportionally to where Leach is now when larger, richer programs come calling.

Leach’s antics limit his market. Coug will put up with his shtick because he delivers 8-9 wins along with mid level Bowl invites.
