Would love to see BSU or Oregon results of the same type of research case.

2009 was the amazing free pub we got for letting Sark hang around SC for an extra month for a bowl game instead of putting him to work on recruiting. Who was the AD that did that again?

    Thanks!

Side note, if anyone wants some random stuff about recruiting rankings just let us know, might be able to help out. We've compiled all the pac12 classes for every school back to 2010 in our database, we have location, high school, stars, position, draft position, DNQ, left early, transfer, etc. all in the database. We went all the way back to 2003 for UW.

Just axe myself or @MrsPetersen‌ and we'll see if we can find something.

What was ironic was when Sark got hired by USC he left town the same day.

Crazy to think that this was the #10 ranked class in the country, looking at the highly ranked guys here is how they panned out.

    Never qualified: Chris Young
Never played/transferred/medical retirement: Nick Montana, Erik Kohler (2 seasons of subpar production prior to retirement, clearly should have redshirted), Colin Porter
Low level contributor: Josh Shirley, Sione Potoae,
Starter/Solid Contributor: Sean Parker (above avg player), Micah Hatchie, Kevin Smith.

The best player from that class is Kikaha (3* #69 (el-oh-el) ranked DE.

Just further proof that none of these teen boys stalkers know dick about scouting players.

Sure, anyone can pick out a guy like Shaq...but when it comes to the Mason Fosters of the world, it's amazing people pay for dipshits like Ektard to tell them about how a high school player is going to pan out.
The TBS club is in a perpetual circle jerk. They feed off of and reinforce their own lazy opinions. Guessing right on "five star" recruits is easier than properly evaluating the remaining 90-95 percent of kids playing high school football.

Successful coaching staffs do a much better job of this, but this too leads back to the circle jerk. An offer from a school like Alabama or LSU tends to elevate that PSA's ranking, for no other reason than the offer. This is among the reasons I don't follow recrooting too closely.

The best evaluation of a class comes later anyway, like our own @CokeGreaterThanPepsi‌ TBSer just did for Sark's first two classes. No way in hell did that 2010 class live up to it's billing, and yes, for a number of reasons. But, this is an excellent indicator of the health of the program, which is all that really matters in the end. I'm guessing Peterman's classes will ALL look better (in retrospect) than ANY Sark put together ..... and that says it all.

For the record, I called Donald Butler being 5star worthy even though he was ranked a 2 back in the doogman days. I'm not here to beat my own chest, but when he trucked me playing against him in high school it was clearly obvious he was a man amongst boys.

There seem to be guys like Butler and Shelton that you know are going to be NFL players that for whatever reason are given a pass in the rankings. I think we can all agree the assumption is a 5 star is going to play in the NFL, so why do these guys slip through the cracks? Del Campo has a good tradition in Sac. How does a guy like Butler slip through the cracks when he clearly was a beast?
